Orbital Marine (formally Scott Renewables) are a power renewable developer and are currently in the later stages of building the SR2000 the world’s most powerful floating tidal turbine.
The turbine creates rotational power and converts it to electricty. This feeds into a ABB Power converter and through a transformer connects to the 11KV grid.
MAP won the contract to construct the 690v incomer and aux feed.
Stage 1 Design
MAP were responsible for the design from a set of Orbital standards.
Stage 2 Build
See photos.
Stage 3 Factory Acceptance Testing
The factory acceptance was conducted at MAP’s premise at Birkenhead ant testing was conducted:
- Conforming of standards required
- Point to point testing
- Insulation testing
- Withstand test 3kv for 1 second
- Low resistance joint measurements
- Power up test
